German Language updated in SmartDial

The newest feature in SmartDial is human German Translations. They were earlier generated using Google Translate. Many thanks to Martin Sigmund for single-handedly providing the translations.
For our new readers, SmartDial is an Android app that can be setup to manage multiple calling cards to save on long distance calling. After the setup, all you have to do is dial your destination number either from your address book or your recently called list. If setup properly, SmartDial will route the call by calling the access number and entering the PIN if any. Email or Call us if you need help with the setup.
If you have a VOIP device such as Vonage or Fritz.box by AVM, you can call International at low rates by setting up SmartDial to call your VOIP device and then dial the destination number.
You can upgrade to Premium to disable ads and enjoy the cleaner user interface.

Vonage introduces captcha to disable automated call-forwarding

After standing by silently, while numerous mobile apps (including SmartDial) utilized the call-forwarding feature to dial Int'l numbers via Vonage from mobile phones, Vonage has now introduced captcha to disable automated call-forwarding. However, in response to overwhelming usage to call from mobiles, Vonage now has 'Extensions', by which you can extend cheap Vonage dial-out rates to your mobiles phones, as shown below.
Additional extension phones can be added for a monthly fee of $10. How to make international calls using your Extensions:

  1. Dial your access number from your registered phone.
  2. Enter your PIN.
  3. Dial the international destination number.

Vonage Extension can be added to SmartDial as a calling card. This lets you dial right from the address book, and reflects the dialed contact in the call log instead of the access number. To be fair, Vonage also has a similar Android app called "Vonage Extensions" available on the Android Market here. However, SmartDial offers the following advantages over Vonage's app.

  1. Lets you email yourself a copy of the call log for record keeping purposes.
  2. Lets you add additional calling cards that offer rates far less than what Vonage does to some countries. You get to pick the calling card used to make the call.
  3. Prompt customer support for setting up the app and resolve issues if any.

SmartDial 2.1 is now available at Android Market

SmartDial is a calling card manager. Install the app and store the different calling cards you plan to use to dial different countries. To dial an international number, just pick the contact in your address book and hit dial. You do not need to open the SmartDial app to make calls.

SmartDial v2.1 is now better and smarter.

1. Support for dialing codes containing special characters such as '*' and '#', generally used in connection with PBX
2. Set a default calling card when presented with a list of calling cards after dialing number. This can be done, by tapping and holding the calling card in the menu.
3. Upgrade to premium access to suppress Ads and get a cleaner look. Paid members will continue to enjoy premium accesss ever after switching phones if they retain prior Google account.

Update for Vonage Users in USA:
Vonage can now be used as a calling card to dial out from your mobile using Extensions. You can enjoy the benefits of Extensions with the convenience offered by SmartDial. To know more about extensions, visit http://www.vonage.com/features.php?feature=vonage_extensions
